What are the island resorts like?
Most of the resorts in the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands that we work with are Fijian-owned and run, making them super friendly, fun, relaxed and culturally authentic. You'll mix and mingle with the locals from the nearby island villages. Just about every resort is beachfront, with coral lagoons on the doorstep. The resorts range in style from simple to more modern properties with a higher standard of accommodation and amenities. This accommodates for all travellers with different tastes and budgets. One thing all these resorts have in common is they are all set in stunning locations.
There is so much to choose from and to help you make your decision on where to stay, Awesome Adventures Fiji identifies two different levels of accommodation: Simple Stays and Relaxed Resorts. For those travelling on an Awesome Pass, there is a third option: Relaxed Resorts - Upgrade.
The resorts offer a range of room types including mixed dormitory, share twin and double rooms. Many resorts have traditional thatched roof huts called 'bures'.
Note: The resorts are not owned by Awesome Adventures Fiji and standards vary from property to property. We do monitor the resorts and have our staff visiting regularly to ensure everything is as it should be. Some resorts may have limited WiFi and tap water isn't always available, although, all resorts will offer purchasable bottled water if this is the case.
Please note: Some of the properties run on power generators therefore, the voltage supplied might not be as strong and some devices may not operate effectively.
SIMPLE STAYS
Basic dorms, lodges and bures
- Typically Fijian-owned and operated
- Basic with simple, local meals included in the price
- An indigenous, authentic experience
- Live and spend time with the Fijian people
- Towels and toiletries are provided
- Generally no hot water supply, though the local water supply is tepid
RELAXED RESORTS
Dorms, bures and lodges at resorts
- Resort-style properties
- More modern with a higher standard of accommodation and amenities
- Meals are not included in the nightly rate; instead you buy a daily meal plan either when booking or at check-in
- Meals can include multiple courses with a varied selection of local and international dishes
- Standard Relaxed Resorts often have shared bathrooms while Relaxed Resorts - Upgrade always have private en suites
- All include free drinking water
